In loving memory of Robert 'Bob' Simms who sadly passed away on 2nd September 2022
Our dad left us recently and we welcome you to join us as we celebrate his life both at the crematorium and at 39 Acacia Avenue, Verwood, BH31 6XF. Dad was so full of life and being surrounded by his family and friends was at the very heart of his being.
He loved a get together- the more the merrier - a captive audience for his endless “dad” jokes so a get together at home seems the most fitting tribute to him!
Dad battled illness for the past 22 years but that never stopped him joining in on the fun- we just needed a few props to make this happen; whether it was his walking stick, rollator, wheelchair, hired electric scooter , hired sea faring bouncy wheelchair etc…….
Dad needed 24 hour monitoring as he could (and did) collapse at any time and became very good mates with the paramedic service. He defied the odds with his renal failure & successfully managed knee and hip replacements so he could get back his mobility ..even at the end he still had 9% on one functioning kidney which he’d hung on to for so long!!
But we should remember the fun times and memories:
Trips to West Wittering , holidays to the beach, abroad, canal boats, camping,
Or dads hobbies; the infamous grandads workshop, playing golf, ten pin bowling, sports (esp golf, cricket, darts & snooker),to name but a few.
And that’s before family get together with the family and being most proud of watching his grandchildren grow up. He’d think nothing of whizzing mum up the motorways to watch endless school concerts from primary school to college days, and loved to see all their achievements whether music, dance, sport or academic. Days when he could drive…. the pain of losing his license being his hardest moment.
He loved his furry cat friends too- Latterly TomTom, Nellie and Pixie giving endless joy and comfort.
We will miss beyond belief but our memories will live on- and boy there are plenty of them!!
Sleep tight dad ❤️❤️❤️

Bob the child Pied Piper. He loved them all, & they loved him. This is one of my favourite photos of Bob , taken on one of our Wittering days. His sense of fun & beaming smile will be much missed. ❤️
