In loving memory of Peter Brian Kimber who sadly passed away on 30th August 2022
Dad was diagnosed with Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) in the early 2000's. After making some lifestyle and diet changes to slow the disease's progression, he eventually came under the care of Southend Hospital's Renal Unit in April 2009. The following are bullet points of the main events over the past 20 years that the renal team has seen Dad through. In between these events have been blood tests and checks every 3 months and meetings with doctors and consultants and nurses.
*Operation to put in "pipework" for home dialysis
*Started Peritoneal Dialysis in April 2011
*Operation to remove pipework and receive 2 donor kidneys on 23rd October 2012
*Operation to remove foreign body, August 2019
*Operation to insert temporary tubes in chest for dialysis November 2020
*Started haemodialysis dialysis December 2021
*Operation to create fistula in left arm to continue dialysis once chest tubes removed.
Over the years Dad received constant care, support and training from this amazing team and they have gone above and beyond, every single time, to do their very best for dad and our family.
The Renal nursing team (Pete's Angels) deserve a special mention. Without them the rest of the Kimber family would have been totally lost while Dad was in hospital this last time.
We would like to show our love, support and gratitude in return, by setting up this page to raise awareness and funds so they can continue to do their important and amazing work.
Whilst flowers are a very kind and generous gesture in memory of Dad, it was his wish for this money to go to the Southend Renal Unit so please do consider donating this money instead of buying flowers.
If you're able, please donate so they can continue to help others like they helped Dad.
