In loving memory of Catherine Maureen Goodwin who sadly passed away on 5th August 2022.
Catherine Maureen Francis was born on the 4th July 1946 in the county borough of Salford.
Her parents were Agnes and Edward Ferguson Francis. Catherine had an older brother, Tony, and a younger brother, John. Sadly, Tony passed away on the 27th October 2021.
Although her name was Catherine Maureen; she was called Maureen.
Maureen’s Mother, Agnes, was catholic and she brought Maureen up in the catholic faith.
Maureen went to church but when she was a teenager stopped going; however, Maureen soon returned to her faith. She attended church weekly and whenever she went on holiday; Maureen’s first thing to do was to search for a church. Maureen never lost her faith and always said “once a catholic always a catholic”.
Maureen went through the eduction system and when she left school had a few jobs. Her last job, which she had for a long time was at the Manchester Ship Canal. It is here where she met her husband of forty three years, Stuart.
Maureen’s relationship with Stuart developed and they got engaged in 1977, and on the 2nd June 1979 they were married.
On the 20th March 1982, Maureen gave birth to her only child, a son called Paul.
Maureen loved gardening and over the years learned a lot from her Father, who was a Head Gardener before he retired.
After Maureen had Paul, she did not return to work at The Manchester Ship Canal. As Paul grew up, Maureen had a few part time jobs. Her last job was as a nursing auxiliary at Trafford General hospital, which she held for a number of years until she retired. Maureen worked very hard all her life.
Paul and his partner Kelly have two boys, Kieran, who is nine years old, and Oliver, who is six years old. Maureen loved her grandsons and loved giving them little treats and cuddles. She was so so proud of them.
Maureen always had a smile on her face and was liked by all who knew her. She was a lovely person and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Forever in our thoughts and always remembered.
