In loving memory of Peter Alfred Masterman who sadly passed away at Southampton General Hospital on 4th August 2022.
1 of 13 children, Peter was the 8th child, born on Wednesday 2nd April 1947 in North Baddesley, Southampton to James Henry Alexander Masterman + Gwendoline Betty Masterman.
In his childhood days Peter went to school in Awbridge, later going on to work for Whitbread where he made some life long friends, some of which still reside in Romsey today.
Peter met his first wife Valerie King in Wellow at a friend's party, they would later go on to marry in 1969 and welcome their first born, a son, Ian Masterman born in June 1970. Sadly, Valerie passed away in 1971 when Ian was only 18 months old, all that knew Peter, knew how much he loved Valerie and how much heartache her passing brought him.
Initially bringing Ian up on his own with help from his mother Gwendoline & Valerie's parents Albert & Gladys, Peter would go on to meet his 2nd wife Pauline Dovey, who he later married in 1981 and went on to welcome his second child, a son, Alex Masterman born in August 1983.
Peter also had four beloved grandchildren, Carrick born in 1991, Harry born in 1996 & James born in 1998 to Ian and his wife Kathryn, and most recently Theo born in 2021 to his son Alex and his wife Dawn.
After retiring from whitbread Peter went on to take a part time job as green keeper for Otterbourne Golf Club, a job he loved doing.
Peter had such an impact on everyone that he met, be it at work, bowls, golf or even down the bookies.
He was a huge part of all of our lives and leaves behind a huge hole in all of our hearts.
There is so much more we could say but this little box isnt big enough, so we will simply say.....
Peter, Dad, Brother, Uncle & Grandad, we will miss you forever, you will never be forgotten, your memory will live on in the stories we tell and the memories we hold of you.
We love you, now and forever.
