In loving memory of Jacqueline Elizabeth Powell who sadly passed away on 5th September 2015.
Jacqui was born in Highbury on 3rd May 1949 and attended schools in Orpington and on the Isle of Wight. Jacqui joined Barclay's bank in Worthing at the age of 16, after two years with the bank Jacqui was accepted by West Sussex police as a cadet and severed with the force for 3 years.
Following her marriage to Keith, Jacqui worked as a PA until their first daughter Denise was born in 1973, her time was then dedicated to being a mother and home maker. In 1978 their second daughter Rachel was born but by now Jacqui found she could cope with home and children and became a helper at the local play group, which she later ran with her friend Maureen.
During this time Jacqui became a volunteer trainer with the Adult Literacy programme which lead to a position with Mid Kent Collage. Jacqui not only worked a full week at the collage but also studied for a degree in her spare time; in 1991 Keith, Denise and Rachel proudly attended the Festival Hall in London to see Jacqui receive her BA in education.
Jacqui became a Lecturer and then Senior Lecturer with Mid Kent Collage, she taught 16 to 19 year olds with special needs until 2008 when ill health forced her to leave work.
Jacqui always had a love of horses and for over 20 years, her spare time would see her with our horses at the stables in Capstone Road. Sport was another love of hers and although not participating physically, rugby and her beloved Arsenal would see Jacqui glued to the TV screen, during the last few years when mobility was a problem all sports on TV gave her a great amount of pleasure.
We hope that you will be able to join the family at Bobbing on the 12th October and after at "The Nursery" Bredhurst.
Dress Code: BRIGHT and CHEERFUL.
