I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of my Aunt Mavis, she was my anchor to the family. Although I didn’t get to see her often, we spoke every week on the phone. She always had something new to discuss, information to share and opinion on the Royal Family to provide. She had a great interest in history, there wasn’t much she didn’t know about the “royals” and more importantly about local history. She was keenly interested in old Nottingham and the Sneinton Windmill.
Mavis was kind, thoughtful and the type of person to help people wherever she could especially family, friends, and neighbors. She was a strong woman who “got on” with things, pushed through adversity and remained cheerful. These are the qualities I admired and that I believe endeared her to everyone who knew her.
Dear Mavis, I will miss our weekly chats, I feel grateful to have had you in my life, you will be missed by everyone who knew you and will remain in our hearts forever. I am sorry I can’t be there in person to “wave you off” one last time.
