In loving memory of Doris Beatrice Dixon who sadly passed away on 31st July 2022.
Mum and her younger sister Joan was brought up in a Dr. Barnados home from the age of 4.
In those days is was frowned upon for dads to bring up young girls, so her older siblings stayed at home with their dad in Islington, London.
Mum had a good but strict upbringing, excellent schooling and was taught how to sew, knit and to care for young children.
I remember mum telling me that every morning deliveries from them butcher, fish monger, greengrocer and baker came to bring them fresh food to eat.
She had lots of fond memories of Dr. Barnados and has requested donations rather than flowers.
