In loving memory of Francesca who sadly passed away on 24th, June 2022.

Though born in Suffolk, Francesca grew up and had her three sons in West Sussex. In her mid-thirties the family moved to Croydon and Francesca trained in mental health nursing. In her thirty year career across south London, Francesca was a dedicated, skilled and kind professional who supported many individuals and was a well respected colleague.

Francesca had a lively, curious and witty outlook. Her interests ranged from exploring different cultures and learning new languages, enjoying fine cuisine and afternoon teas, learning about history and current affairs, and she had an eclectic taste in music. To many, perhaps she was most known for her menagerie of pets - hence why she will always be remembered by her grandchildren as' Nana Cats'!

One of my mother’s oft-told childhood anecdotes recalls her being a toddler safely at home. Apparently she was in the middle of a bedroom floor where her parents had set about shifting weighty furniture. In a moment of heavy exertion and, no doubt, a not-entirely-static three-year-old straying into the hubbub, a vast wardrobe tilted and then began to topple. Mother described how she stared up silently at the obelisk as it loomed over, then inevitably fell right on to where she sat. At the point of obliteration, the wardrobe doors swung open fully and she was swallowed unharmed inside! I always liked this re-working of the Narnia yarn and it was by no means my mother’s only near mishap. Daniel
