I remember shortly after Robert and Christine were married and they lived with us, for a short time, at 6 Vulcan Street, Springburn. It was 'cosy' with our Mum and Dad, sister Janet and me. Robert taught me to ride a bike and, like George, I remember following him and Harry to the Rowing Club on Glasgow Green. Following Robert and Harry, and I agree with George, usually meant running to keep up!!! I guess I enjoyed it as I rowed for my school in later years. I also remember Robert and Christine moving to their first house, in a tenement, on Springburn Road. If I remember correctly it was practically opposite the 'O'Briens'!
They then moved to Thornaby on Tees where I remember we visited them several times. Robert then joined IBM, moving to Hampshire, where he enjoyed a successful and fulfilling career. Again he helped me make one of my career decisions. His help and wisdom helped me make a decision to move into the IT industry and I also joined IBM.
Robert and Christine visited Mary and I at our homes both in the UK and also when we lived in the USA. I guess I also learnt from Robert the benefit to your career of working and living in other countries.
It is sad when a man such as Robert leaves us but I draw comfort by knowing he is with my sister Christine.

In loving memory of Robert Stewart who sadly passed away on 18th July 2022
Robert Miller Stewart, born to William and Agnes Stewart, in Dundee Scotland on October 21, 1940.
One of 3 children, James (Jimmy), William (Billy) (deceased), and Robert, known to many as Bob.
Robert made his way to becoming an Engineer by attending Dundee University. While attending University, and cycling frequently between Dundee and Glasgow for work and part-time employment, Bob met the love of his life, Christine, and married 2nd July 1960, in Glasgow.
Robert and Christine enjoyed a life of travel and varied work assignments that took them around the world. Working first for Singer, then Hoover, Bob spent the majority of his working life with IBM which gave him, Christine, and their family, the opportunity to spend many years in Germany and Brazil before returning to Hampshire, UK for the remaining years of his tenure with IBM.
Robert loved adventure and the outdoors. As well as rowing in his teenage years, he was a keen sailor, amateur gemologist, photographer, gardener, bird and wildlife enthusiast, and loved his ever increasing library of books.
A loving and loyal husband and devoted father, Robert is survived by his 3 children: Hazel Andrew Holmes (David Holmes), Robert Stewart (Cherie Maaka), William Stewart (Helen Morin Stewart), his six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Robert will be greatly missed by all
