Barry Cooper (3 Jun 1938 - 14 Jun 2022)
Funeral Director
John Barry Cooper (3.6.1938 – 14.6.2022).
On Tuesday, 14 June 2022 Barry passed away peacefully at home. He was surrounded by his family and more love than is imaginable. It was a peaceful end to a truly special man’s life.
Barry was so well supported at the end of his life by an incredible team - Dorothy House, Dr Oliver and the Devizes Community Nurses who all went above and beyond to enable him and his family to feel safe and calm during the toughest days of all our lives.
Barry was a fun-loving, big-hearted family man who gave a huge amount of time, energy and love to everyone who came into his life. He touched so many lives in his RAF career, his swimming official roles (both in Calne and in Hong Kong), his masonic work and in his retirement. He supported the Calne Twinning Association and was an honorary WI husband. He has left a massive hole in the universe.
The condolences we have received emphasised to us how much of an impact he had on those who were lucky enough to call him a friend, mentor and family. When tackling his battles with cancer his quiet strength of character will always be remembered, as will the courage and characteristic good humour he showed. We now have a new family motto, “T’is a bugger!” He continued to live his life to the fullest right to the end and we are so very proud and honoured to have had him in our lives as Husband, Dad, Grandad and Friend.
It was his birthday wish to raise funds for Dorothy House so it is our wish to honour this by raising funds in his memory.
