Sarah was a very special friend. This is an ordinary thing to say when someone leaves us forever but I think most people who have had the honour to meet her will agree with me and will say “It is absolutely true’’.
Why she was so special, I cannot really tell and I don’t want to get into places of her personal life which she never really mentioned. But there is one thing I guess, she probably suffered a lot, but didn’t want to express it and always found ways – when she laughed, for instance – to make people have a good time and forget about the problems.
I will always remember her extreme sensitivity, her generosity and her incredible sense of hospitality. Everybody knows, this is only one example, that even if she didn’t eat very much herself, she loved cooking delicious meals for her friends and organize wonderful dinner parties. One day, in Essaouira (Morocco), she convinced a local lady to prepare a succulent dish just because it was my mother’s birthday.
As her dear sister Tessa wrote, she had fought against a terrible illness for many years, so we were not prepared at all for such a sudden loss. We were dreaming that, one day, we would go the North of England and Scotland to visit her friends, to Africa or other places around the world.
Let me please express here my since condolences to her family and all of her friends. We will miss you very much Sarah. Life is so cruel when it steals you the most cherished ones.
