In loving memory of Ryan Elijah Tyler Heffernan-Surplice who sadly passed away on 28th March 2022
Ryan Elijah Tyler Heffernan – Surplice was born on 18th December 2009 in co Galway, Ireland to his proud and loving parents Mike and Catherine. Along with his big sister Madison, they lived here until Ryan was 2 years old, when the family moved to Shoeburyness, in England. Leaving behind his two older half-sisters Michela and Lauren, but always keeping in touch with them. Here they welcomed his younger sister Paige – a few months later. And the settled into their forever home.
From a young age Ryan had the most strongest and funniest personality and managed to shine in every room he entered. Growing up he was always curious and aimed for the stars, he was always caring to everyone and would always give anyone cuddle if he thought they were sad. He found it so easy to make new friends and would talk to everyone – which is a quality that as he grew up showed his caring and sociable view to life – although as a parent or when you were looking after him when he was very young was not always what you were comfortable with when you just wanted to get some shopping done and suddenly your having a conversation with a random stranger!
Ryan was always full of energy and very active, he loved outdoor activities especially his trampoline and playing on the zip lines and was a real fan of water and swimming. When down on the seafront he would be so excited to go into the water that he would be gone into the sea as fast as he could – even if he was asked not to – much to Catherine’s dismay. Which always made us laugh when we would hear the stories. He also was very passionate about Pokémon and him and Mike would enjoy going on Pokémon hunts – which he would come back to the house and tell you all about the different Pokémon they had found. Evidentially he would be exploring the local area as when you were out and about he would randomly tell you he recognised a place as that where he found a Pokémon!
Ryan loved animals of every type, he was the first to tell you if you were scaring a cat or dog you saw on the street but would also be the first to ask an owner if he could pet their animal. Ryan had a particular love of Sealife – he enjoyed fishing and going crabbing at the beach and he wanted to become a marine biologist. I always wished he would achieve everything he wanted in life I truly believe he would have.
Ryan was happy he was always happy. I’m sure he will always be happy, up in heaven with his grandad’s taking care of him and getting up to mischief.
Goodbye Ryan, we will always love you.
