In loving memory of Susan Boorman who sadly passed away on 6th June 2022
Our beloved Susan ‘Sue’ Boorman was a amazing, caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunty and friend.
She sadly passed away at her home in West Hallam on Monday 6th June 2022 aged 74. She was surrounded by her loving family.
She grew up in a loving supportive Christian home with her parents Victor and Muriel Hope and shared a happy childhood with her brothers Stephen and Andrew before embarking on her nursing career and meeting the great love of her life Graham.
Together they had three children, David,Louise and Emma and later were blessed with 7 precious grandchildren Dave, Lewis,Poppy,Martha,Gabriel,Rufus and Esther who she loved and cared for with every ounce of her being.
Susan and Graham were blessed with almost 54 years of wonderful marriage. Susan cherished life and loved nothing more than spending time with her family.
Susan had a successful and fulfilling career as a school nurse for many years where she was able to express her caring spirit. This was an inspiration to all three of her children who followed in her footsteps as health care professionals.
She loved the warmth of the sunshine and enjoyed many holiday adventures in the UK, around Europe and further afield, her favourite place being Madiera which her and Graham visited countless times making precious memories together and also with family and friends.
Susan loved baking and made the most amazing cakes, she loved reading and even wrote her own autobiography for family to read and treasure,
She loved the simple pleasures of walking through nature and going out for lunch.
She was incredibly proud of her children and grandchildren and valued her role as a mother and grandmother above all else.
She was a kind, compassionate, beautiful, clever and witty lady who enriched the lives of everyone around her.
She became unwell in July 2009 and was diagnosed with follicular lymphoma. She met her diagnosis and the progression of her illness with grace, courage and a determination to fight and live her life to the full which she succeeded to do over the following years.
Susan was actively involved in Lymphoma charities and research. As a part of this she networked, made lasting friendships with fellow sufferers and became her own expert in the field in the disease process. She took charge of her illness and treatments with a committed mindset. Through this journey she was able to give and receive much support and comfort to others and participated in attending national events and fund raising.
She never once complained and had a ‘never surrender’ attitude motivated by all the things she held most dear in life.
She valued every day as a blessing and found comfort in the love and support of her family and friends.
Her Christian faith gave her strength and peace in the knowledge that she was in the hands of God.
Her lasting wishes were for those who loved her to remember her with fondness and appreciate all that life gives.
A funeral service is scheduled for 11.00hrs on Thursday 30th June at West Hallam methodist church, High lane West DE76JN followed by a grave side prayer as she is laid to rest at Park cemetery Ilkeston, DE75HT
There will be light buffet and refreshments at West Hallam White Rose cricket club DE76HE for her loved ones to meet, reflect and share their memories.
Susan wished for the day to be one of celebration of her life and as such requested that people wear colourful clothing.
Rather than flowers, her request was for donations to her chosen charities to enable the vital research and support into Follicular lymphoma to continue.
We invite you to follow the link to find details of the service, Just giving pages and the opportunity to share your thoughts and condolences.
Much love Graham and family x
