In loving memory of my Mum Joan Wilson who sadly passed away on 10th June 2022 at home in Canewdon.
Our a beautiful Mum/Nan led an incredible life. Born to Kam and Mary Lee on the 24th of May 1930 in Liverpool. Sister to James who passed away at birth and her brother Stanley who died aged 17 in WW2.
Mum met my Dad at a party. They quickly starting dating and fell in love, marrying at St Teresa’s church Liverpool on the 25th of March 1950. The day was a beautiful occasion and celebrated by all that attended.
Mum and Dad had a great social life and whilst Mum wasn’t a a drinker she still enjoyed visiting clubs and dancing.
Mum fell pregnant with me and I had the most amazing up bringing, surrounded by love, laughter and sweet treats. They supported me know matter what and I always knew I had warm, cosy home to return to.
Mum qualified as a nurse then helped run the family shop. Later she returned to nursing until retirement.
If she wasn’t caring for her patients she’d be looking after her parents, husband Joe, me and her grandchildren David & Karen.
Mum was devoted to her family and loved spending time with them. Booking holidays, days out to theme parks/zoo’s or taking everyone shopping and piling the trolley with delicious foods. She rarely ever said no and actively encouraged us to try new foods.
Mum would busy her self at home cooking, cleaning, tending to Murphy the cat, chatting with the neighbours and always offering to help people out. She was a surrogate Nan to her neighbours children at Rose Place and then later on to David & Karen’s cousins and friends all calling her Nanny Joan.
When Dad passed away in 2004, Mum joined me, David & Karen in Canewdon. She soon settled in and loved going on shopping trips, holidays to Looe & feeding the birds and stroking the many cats that would visit.
Mum was the most beautiful, caring, loving, selfless, kind, supportive and thoughtful woman you could have ever met, she also has a cracking sense of humour and would often have us all laughing. We feel so lucky to have had her in our lives for so long and we will miss her everyday.
In recent years Mums health deteriorated due to COPD a lung condition that effects many people, this then had a knock on effect to her heart.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Asthma and Lung UK charity who help support COPD and The British Heart Foundation.
Any donations to these charities will be appreciated - Please follow the link.
Thanks to all those that have sent cards, flowers and messages and for supporting me and the family.
