Cyril Callaway (29 Oct 1940 - 12 May 2022)

In loving memory of Cyril Callaway who sadly passed away on 12th May 2022.

Cyril Callaway was a kind and generous man, loved and respected by everyone who new him, with a wicked sense of humour and a strong desire to help anyone who needed it. He was a dedicated husband to Judy for almost 60 years and an amazing dad to David and Linda who will all miss him dearly. Nicknamed Grumps (because he was anything but!!) by his two adoring grandchildren, Matt and Sam, Cyril worked very hard to ensure that his beloved family had everything he had missed out on when growing up.

Cyril was a larger than life character, who was determined to live life to the full. Having initially gone to sea at 15, he became highly respected in the local roofing industry and continued actively working on the roof until he was into his 70's. He was honest and trustworthy and had time for everyone. Nothing was too much trouble and everyone always had good things to say about Cyril.

When he wasn’t working, Cyril enjoyed being outdoors – gardening and working on his allotment together with travelling and exploring new places and meeting new people. He particularly enjoyed sea fishing, playing crib and watching the 'Saints'.
