We’ve known each other for many years at Upbury Manor school and after retirement meeting up for coffee and a chat , until Covid that is. Since it’s had to be chats over the phone. She has definitely had a rough many years with her health but at least she is at peace now. Remembering you always, Val

Sorry for the loss of your dear mum Irene. I met Irene just before the pandemic when I started working as an invigilator at MidKent College - we became good friends and met for coffee on a regular basis, having a good natter and putting the world to rights. Irene also had a great sense of humour and we laughed a lot. I will miss her.

Remembering a friend from schooldays and our annual lunches in London with other school friends where Irene often kept us laughing with her stories. I will be in Devon at the time of her funeral but will be thinking of her then.

So sorry to hear about the sad loss of your mum, Irene. I worked with Irene for the exam board and always loved catching up at meetings. When times were tough, your mum always had a cheery smile and a kind word to help get me through. I have very fond memories of your mum and am so sorry for your loss.

I was very sad to hear about Irene
I met her in my very first job as a lab technician at Brunel College in Acton and we became very friendly.
I will always remember her as a cheerful person and although I later visited her in Gillingham a few times ( Firstly when Jason and Greg were toddlers, then on my own) and we corresponded quite regularly; exchanged Greetings Cards, regretfully,
we somehow never met up again in person.
In her emails, she was very positive and never complaining, sending flurries of amusing and interesting ones.
I will miss her and her online presence, but I will not forget her.
Regrettably I will miss her funeral due to hospital appointments and mobility issues but I will be thinking of you all.
Linda x

Irene was one of those wonderful constant companions through the many years I met her whilst doing Exam work. She was always ready with a smile and a chat. I'm honoured to have known her during this time.

With thanks for the work you did on behalf of your fellow retirees in the Retired Members Association of the NASUWT.
I only knew you for a very short time, but it was time enough to realise that you were liked and respected by your colleagues.
