Martin John Maclachlan, aged 58 years, sadly passed away peacefully at his home in Belvedere, Kent. He was surrounded by his family and close friends who had been by his side continually.
Martin was born on 17th March 1964 in Abbeywood, London. He was the son of the late John and Jean Maclachlan and brother to Jason, Debbie and Sharon.
Martin leaves behind his wife Paula, two sons, Sam and John. Two step children, Amy-Louise and Conner. Plus 5 grandchildren, Alfie, Lullabelle, Teddy, Lottie and Poppy.
Martin was a larger than life character who saw the best in everyone. He would be the ‘go to guy’ for many people, and always had time for a chat, especially when he was in the bath.
Arsenal FC was his one and only football club. He travelled everywhere to watch them and has witnessed some amazing achievements and players over the years. One in particular he would say was the best thing that ever happened in his life, this included the birth of his boys! (only joking).
Martins passion was for music. No particular genre. He would listen to the words in a song, and when he would ask you to listen to a song he could describe it in such a way that made you appreciate the song even more. Martin loved to sing! Wether it was driving in the car, sitting in the bath or karaoke, he loved it. So many people will remember him for songs such as ‘Mack the Knife, Great Balls of Fire and Mini the Moocher. Martin would relate music to different times in his life and people. We made it special in our time together, from our first date, to our marriage and during our last year and his battle with cancer. Music helped us through.
An extremely friendly man who had so many friends. All of Martin’s friends have been a part of his life for many years. Growing up together, being there for each other and sharing their lives. His friends are so important to him, they are family.
Martin loved playing golf and would even have trips away to play at some the best courses. He would look forward to going, especially as he would be spending time with his boys and best friends.
Holidays were a big part of Martins life. He loved flying out to the apartment in Marbella, Spain. He called it home. So many photos of such a beautiful place, eating Pil Pil with a glass of sangria, sitting by the beach or by the pool. Last year we were there and Martin taught his grandson Teddy to swim. Such wonderful memories.
Being a dad and grandad was a role that Martin loved. He was so proud of his boys and would always find an opportunity to talk about his grandchildren.
Martin Maclachlan will leave a huge hole in all our lives but will always be in our hearts.
My hubby, my best friend, my soul mate, my world.
