Westmill Woodland Burial Ground is a peaceful woodland natural burial site in Watchfield, Oxfordshire, home to a numerous variety of shrubs, plants and trees.

The site offers natural burial plots, combined burial and ashes plots, and supports the interment and scattering of ashes. Families can choose to be involved in preparing for the burial by helping to dig and backfill the grave.

The team at Westmill Woodland Burial Ground are happy to provide bereaved families with a personal and flexible service that reflect the wishes of the person who has died. From simple graveside funeral to traditional religious ceremonies, the staff are committed to helping families hold a memorable green funeral.

Memorial tablets in Cumbrian slate may be purchased and carved to inscribe a message that can be placed on the grave.

Westmill has a Roundhouse which is an open, eco friendly space which can be reserved to host small ceremonies or wakes. Chairs and a trestle to support the coffin can be provided and the building can be decorated if desired. Families can make use of the site’s willow cart or bier to convey the person to their grave.

Westmill Woodland Burial Ground has a small car park (accommodating up to 10 cars) and two simple, composting toilets on-site. You can visit the site at anytime but do make an appointment for a guided tour of the premises.

Nearby village halls at Watchfield and Shrivenham are suitable for larger funeral receptions and both venues have parking facilities.The staff are also able to recommend local caterers and nearby hotels and pubs where families can organise post-funeral gatherings.
