Herongate Wood is a green burial site in Brentwood, Essex offering a complete green funeral service. The independently run woodland burial site is a peaceful and tranquil resting place for someone who wishes to have a green funeral. The bluebell woods lying adjacent to Herongate, along with a diverse variety of plant and animal life, adds to its beauty.

Herongate offers both traditional and green funerals including burial, cremation and burial of ashes. The site is managed by its in-house funeral directors, who are happy to assist with planning every step of the funeral.

Families are free to have a DIY funeral, and staff will support the family with advice, supply a coffin and facilities, allowing them to prepare and care for the person who has died. A Hall of Remembrance is available on-site for families to hold a memorial service or celebration following the burial or cremation. Families can have a memorial service or mourn in peace at the private chapel (seating 60). Car parking is available at the premises.

The staff are able to help families source eco friendly coffins in natural materials including cardboard, seagrass, banana leaves and bamboo. Biodegradable urns and ashes caskets are also available in pandanus, euro willow, white cane, bamboo and seagrass. Apart from planting a semi-mature standard tree as a memorial, granite plaques with an inscribed message can be placed flat to mark the graves.
