Gunton Woodland Burial Park
About Us
Gunton Woodland Burial Park is a tranquil green burial site in Lowestoft, Suffolk and is a peaceful resting place for those who want a green funeral. The site is dedicated to promoting the growth of an eco-friendly burial space and aims to provide a natural and peaceful environment where people can spend time with nature. The owners have created five burial glades encouraging the growth of wildflowers, and 7,000 native trees have been planted to grow into the woodland area and attract a variety of birds, small mammals and insects.
The independently run charity offers natural burial plots and interment of ashes. Scattering of ashes can take place within particular areas set aside for the purpose.
Open to members of all faiths and religions, Gunton Woodland Burial Park recommends using the services of a funeral director to organise your woodland burial. Whether you want to have a religious service or a simple celebration of life ceremony, the site is open to having a green burial arranged according to the family’s wishes. Christian funerals can be held at the nearby Gunton St Peter’s Church, and a reception can be organised at the Church Hall if desired.
Gunton Woodlands are happy to have bereaved family or friends plant wildflowers on graves, and are able to advise on suitable types of flowers. Fresh flowers may be placed on the grave as long they are free from non biodegradable materials like plastic, packaging or ribbons.
Car parking is available on-site as long as there is staff in the office. Additional short-term parking is available nearby at Gunton Church Lane.
