Dalton Woodland Burial Grounds in Burton-in-Kendal, Cumbria is part of the historic Dalton Estate and comprises of a mixed woodland area, natural glades and patches of limestone outcrops. The woodland supports diverse plants and wildlife including deer, fungi, mosses, invertebrates, insects and birds, which contribute to its beauty.On offer are single and double burial and ashes plots, with additional charges for interment of ashes and grave digging.
The site is open to members of all faiths, backgrounds and beliefs, and is respectful of families’ wishes to have a personalised green funeral.
Dalton Woodland Burial Grounds are able to advise and guide families and funeral directors on every aspect of the green burial arrangement process.
All materials used for green burials at Dalton Woodland should be biodegradable - options can include wicker or cardboard coffins, caskets, felt eco pods or linen shrouds. Families can choose to purchase a memorial made of local slate that can be laid flat on the grave. Fresh flowers can also be laid at the grave, but these should be free from plastic or artificial packaging.
Visitors and walkers are welcome all year around, and no appointment is needed to visit. Car parking is available at the premises.
