Crossways Woodland Burials
About Us
The woodland burial site was opened in 2004, and is part of a larger family-run sheep farm. At Crossways, there are natural burial plots and combined burial and ashes plots available to purchase all year around. The site also supports bereaved families who would prefer to have ashes interred or scattered. A designated area harbouring shrubs, flowers and trees has been set aside for the scattering of ashes.Crossways is respectful of all religions, faiths and denominations and can support families to organise a personalised and memorable service or ceremony. If you are looking to arrange a humanist funeral, they are able to offer the services of a humanist celebrant who can lead the service.
All shrouds, caskets and coffins need to be made from natural material and Crossways are able to help families select from a range of options that include wicker, felt, banana leaf and wood. A local plant, tree or shrub can be chosen as a memorial tribute, and a plaque made from stone, slate or wood can be laid on graves. There is a also a log cabin nearby, which can be reserved for a wake, celebration or service following the green funeral. Catering can be arranged on request. Car parking is available on-site.
It is not necessary to book an appointment to visit, but do make an appointment if you would like a guided tour.
