Beyond The Empty Chair
A brief and non-religious poem in which the narrator hopes that once he or she dies, their loved ones, despite their grief, will find comfort in memories of them. The meaning and tone of this poem makes it especially suitable for Humanist funerals. No particular type of person is addressed in the verse, so it would make an appropriate eulogy for a mother, father, grandparent, sibling or friend.
Beyond The Empty Chair
Look beyond the empty chair
To know a life well spent
Look beyond the solitude
To days of true content
Cherish in your broken heart
Each moment gladly shared
And feel the touch of memory
Beyond the empty chair.
