Gateway Funeral Services are a local, independent family run Funeral Directors in Birkenshaw. The business was set up 2008 by Richard Arnold and is now overseen by Richard and his wife, Emma Arnold.
Ever since he was a child Richard wanted to be a funeral director. At the age of 15, his grandfather passed away, which inspired him to get into the funeral industry. Richard was successful in joining a Funeral Director and worked there for several years, before he was motivated to start his own business - his childhood dream.
Richard and Emma are both Cleckheaton born and bred and when a premises became available in Birkenshaw, Richard jumped at the chance to open Gateway Funeral Services. The business went from strength to strength, serving the local community and shortly after, opened Cleckheaton, Wibsey and Denby Dale branches. In 2012, after the birth of their fourth child, Emma joined the company and is now a well-loved Funeral Director within the community and the family business.
The head office manager, Samantha Hodgson and branch managers; Alex Monkhouse (Wibsey) and Sharon D'Ambroisio (Batley) are all well known and liked in the community, providing invaluable support to families when they need it most. There is also a team of funeral service operatives who are always on hand to provide support when needed.
