At a time when we needed guidance, support and kindness Darren provided the most detailed, dedicated support that we could have hoped for. I felt that the attention wasn't just on the process of what needed to be done but on the wellbeing of myself and the wider family. Things went as smoothly as possible and the one issue that came up at the end, an oversight from us as a family, was smoothly picked up and resolved. As a family, we are so appreciative of all the staff at Southgate & Roberts - thank you.

The funeral directors from the very first telephone call to collect my father having just passed away were very compassionate and kind and courteous, and assisted with everything we could possibly want and asked for. Even on arrival, to take my father to the funeral parlour they were understanding and even asked what time would we like dad's taxi to arrive to take him (I will never forget it as it really touched us that they were taking him and were so respectful to even refer to the car to take my departed dad as a taxi they were so kind) and ensured everything was dealt with and especially on the day. Everyone was professional and nothing was too much trouble and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone as they couldn't have been better. The staff were approachable and reachable at all times and the whole experience even though for us was a distressing time was co-ordinated and made all the arrangements so we had nothing to worry about throughout the day. I can't thank them enough for all they did and the staff were over and beyond helpful and caring.

Southgate and Roberts have been a massive comfort to us at this very sad time. At every twist and turn Liam has supported us. Our lovely husband and father, grandad has been shown the upmost respect and dignity throughout. We cant thank them enough for going above and beyond.

Darren and his Team looked after us all with so much patience and compassion. From the moment they took mum into their care until we said goodbye to her on the day of the funeral they were there for us at any time. They added the personal touch which brought the whole family so much peace. We will forever be grateful to them.

The S&R Team were an incredible support to our family
From the time that I first called and spoke to Darren, walking us through every step, keeping us informed and providing recommendations. I never felt, for one moment, that it wouldn't be fine.
What made them exceptional was the very personal steps they took on the day to honour Dad. I can't tell you how much comfort that gave us on the day and how it made everyone smile at a time when our hearts were broken.
They were exceptional.

Darren was compassionate throughout and the Funeral Service was so special .The team at Southgate and Roberts were so thoughtful they made the service into something beautiful as well as paying attention to my daughters favourite colour purple and lighting lavender candles. Everyone who attended the chapel service commented on how beautiful it was. I also would like to mention how gorgeous the flowers were that Darren organised for me and many thanks to the beautiful celebrant Tina such a kind and caring person. Bless you all for making the celebration of my daughters life so perfect x

I first made contact with Darren at Southgate and Roberts after my father passed away.
His professionalism and compassion was evident from our first phone call. He took all the stress away from this sad and difficult time and his attention to detail and constant updates enabled me to focus on  other issues. When I needed to provide information from time to time I never felt rushed or harassed . On the actual funeral day my family and I just had to turn up and everything was ready,  the service could not have gone more smoothly. 
I would highly recommend Southgate and Roberts, as such a professional and empathetic business is a rarity these days.

Matt, Darren, Liam and the rest of the team made a very difficult time much easier to cope with. Their kindness and compassion shown to myself and my family was so lovely, and once my husband was in their care they also treated him with kindness and respect. Nothing was to much trouble for them, and all the personal touches they added made such a difference on the day of the funeral. I would definitely recommend Southgate and Roberts.

When my husband unexpectedly passed away just three months after moving to the area from Bournemouth, we were completely at a loss, not knowing any local businesses. One look at the reviews for Southgate & Roberts told us this Funeral Directors seemed to be a cut above the rest; and so it proved to be. From our first meeting with Liam; with his long experience, sheer humanity and respect for my husband as well as the family, we knew we were in safe hands. Liam guided us gently through the process and assured us we must never worry, and that if we were concerned about anything, to just call, no matter the time, day or night. The feeling of relief knowing we'd made a good choice was further enhanced when we met Julian the Celebrant. Julian was patient and kind, listened to us and did such a good job of making the Funeral into a real celebration of my husband's life. There was laughter as well as tears, and even a lovely folder with the Eulogy in handed to us afterwards. Everyone we met, from the office staff to the pall-bearers was just lovely and we are so please we chose and remain deeply indebted to them.

My beloved husband died recently on the 7th of January 2023 and I am on my own with my four year old son. I had no where to go and no idea of what would happen for funeral then I googled and approached South gate and Roberts. Mr. Darren Lucas funeral director was amazingly helpful in every possible way and sorted even minute details according to my wishes. Darren not only took good care of me also respected the extended family's wishes to every possible context. I greatly appreciate the work ethics dedication and honesty of Darren and the whole team. He quoted me a Price and never changed it again also Darren eased the burden off my shoulders in a way to arrange flowers and most importantly priest as we are Hindus. I can't thank Darren enough. He always listened to me carefully and was connected emotionally on every step till the very end. I felt as if he was my close family here in England during my adversity. I am more than happy to recommend Southgate and Roberts for their unwavering support excellent services honesty and helpfulness beyond measure.

My beloved sister passed away very unexpectedly, which left our family completely shocked and heartbroken.
A friend recommended Southgate & Roberts and I’m so pleased they did.
The compassion, dignity and professionalism they demonstrated was outstanding. Darren, Julian and the team at Southgate & Roberts really went above and beyond for my sister but also cared for us as a family throughout the stressful and emotional process of planning her funeral. 
As a family we couldn’t recommend the company enough, my sister got the send off she deserved and that is all thanks to the amazing team at Southgate & Roberts!
