They gave a very friendly service from the start. Everything we asked for was done without fuss and they guided us through the funeral procedures taking away a lot of the stress. The day of the funeral they executed with dignity and compassion. We have no hesitation in recommending Peter Haigh and Sons.

Unfortunately I have used Peter Haigh Funeral Directors in the last two years. The service he gave for both was outstanding. He was always available to talk , his experience was so helpful in guiding us to having two funerals that were lovely 'send offs' for close family members. I mean this is in the the nicest possible way, but do hope I don't need his services anytime soon! Thanks Peter.

My Dad's wishes was for a fuss free cremation only and Peter Haighs and son delivered with great respect and professionalism and went that extra length by filling my memorials with my Dads ashes. I would definitely recommend Peter Haighs and son a lovely friendly family.

Amongst funeral directors I contacted to get 'a feel' of who I would want to use for the funeral of my husband, I spoke to Oliver Haigh.  Oliver gave his condolences and talked me through the key arrangements, provisions and pricing for the funeral.   What swung my decision to use Peter Haigh & Sons was Oliver saying 'we are here to help families, not rob families' ... and coincidentally, the estimated price quoted was the most competitive.  At this first contact I felt reassured by the compassion and patience shown by Oliver.

I wanted continuity so requested that Oliver (instead of Peter) came to see me at home when we had to discuss the funeral arrangements and to attend to the formality of the ‘paperwork’. He patiently, and painstakingly, went through the arrangements in detail. The many questions I had jotted down to ask were more or less answered by the end of his explanation.

When I needed comforting after going to the chapel of rest to visit my husband, Julie was there with her arms around me and a shoulder for me to lean on, saying ‘this is what we are here for’. And bless her, she even offered to be available on Christmas Day! The atmosphere of the Haigh Funeral Home is like a home: relaxed, emotionally comfortable and unthreatening, with the proverbial cup of tea as well of course!

The funeral was carried out professionally and sensitively. The arrangements went smoothly despite the wet weather for a burial. My personal wishes were carried out. Kate Menzies, the celebrant who works with Peter Haigh & Sons, was thorough in her preparation of my husband’s eulogy and conducted a lovely service. When my husband had been laid to rest after the burial, Oliver came up to me and gave me the most enormous and comforting hug, bless him.

Peter Haigh & Sons is a true family business with three family members ‘running the show’: Peter, Julie and Oliver, helping, and supporting, the bereaved with warmth, kindness and understanding at a very difficult time. I feel that they truly care and are genuine. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble, for example, a home made CD for the music to be used on the day of the funeral was picked up by Peter (coming from Ecclesfield), and delivered to cemetery services (at City Road), to test that the CD will work in the old Hi-Fi system in the chapel of Abbey Lane Cemetery. He was at my front door (I live in Sheffield South West) when I was still burning the CD on Windows Media Player … and the CD did work.

I couldn’t have chosen a better funeral director than Peter Haigh & Sons who live up to their claim of Family Funeral Director. The utmost respect, compassion, kindness and care were shown to me. I felt so well supported and cared for throughout this most difficult time for me.

Peter Haigh & Sons Funeral Director get the highest of recommendation from me. If I could give 6 stars I would.

They are kind trustworthy, patient and understanding in their approach. You can tell they genuinely care about the families and friends that they look after at this most difficult of times. We would all like to thank Peter and his family for welcoming us and taking us into their care at a time most painful and distressing for our family. They did this with the upmost warmth, respect and dignity which helped us through the loss of both our parents within a month.

Met Peter Haigh, when I first went to arrange my brother 's funeral. He was such a friendly and professional man,who quickly put me at ease along with his lovely wife Julie. They both made an incredibly sad and difficult situation more bearable and light hearted . Their son Oliver was also brilliant at the actual funeral, very caring as well as professional . I live in London,and was organising my brother's funeral in Sheffield, I could not have made a better choice of Funeral Directors. I would highly recommend them.

These guys have been absolutely brilliant for me.

It was my wife that chose Peter Haigh & Sons. After ringing around for a few quotes and to get a 'feel' for who we should employ, I can confidently say that we chose well. This family-owned and run business deliver with warmth, sensitivity and professionalism. They went to great lengths to explain what various processes entailed, where we didn't need to spend money, how long things took, what the flowers looked like i.e. what would work and what wouldn't based on our preferences etc...

Having a long established business, it was great that he was able to use his knowledge of the local churches and close relationships with the ministers to make us feel more comfortable and secure, which is important at such a time.

My requirements were to organise a service locally for my mother in Sheffield and then have her buried in the same grave as my father, over 100 miles away. This was all taken care of - nothing was too much trouble.

I would absolutely recommend Peter Haigh & Sons, based on their service to my family. It gave us the opportunity to make the day the best it could be and for that, I am very grateful.

There is one thing that I would add and this maybe goes without saying - but as a piece of advice, take pictures. I always looked at my parents' old photos from funerals and found it a bit odd. Now, I wish I had made a point and taken a few more myself. Its easy to let the day pass you by but its an important event, which you will want to look back on and remember.
