Great support from the outset. Responded to messages quickly. Thought given to making the service individual to my partner- wore blue ties as he supported Portsmouth FC.

Co-Op Funeralcare have been amazing through a difficult time. My average rating is based on the whole service to which I had issues with the Father Phillip of the Good Shepherd Church.

I am single with no family to help, I’ve had a house to go back & forth to clear, a funeral to plan & finances to sort on my own. I’d asked Father Philip if we could have our meeting over the phone, he insisted on meeting but I explained I had a house to sort on Skegness & as I’d never planned a funeral before, I didn’t know what I was doing or the order of the service. He said he would send over a standard template of the order of services for a Catholic funeral. He didn’t reply to me so after two days I emailed Sharron to which she gave me Father Philip’s email address so I had to chase him myself, he then finally sent template. I replied back asking if I was to choose hymns or songs etc, he never replied. It wasn’t until I had a meeting with Sharron two days later that she called him & put him on the phone to which he then asks, can you come & meet me. I said well it looks like I don’t have choice. His lack of effort or care meant I had Sharron chasing me as we needed the order of service cards printed but I couldn’t help until Father Philip had helped me.

I arrive to his meeting to which he is 15 minutes late & makes me wait for him whilst he’s on the phone! I then ask him why he’s made me have this meeting face to face & he replies with “well I had to reschedule my day for this meeting because you have other meetings to attend so it works both ways”!

During the meeting he mentions the priest in the third person so I had no idea who was to be at the service. He also starts to discuss the church & how all cultures are welcome (I’m Indian but Catholic christened), tells me how Asians, Chinese & other countries come to his church.

During the the funeral, he begins to say the same during my Mum’s funeral, giving the address of the church as if to elicit support. It all just seemed like a sales pitch to entice more people to his church. His church was mentioned in the local paper as it was used to film a new ITV drama with Bicky McClure…..not sure if the Father has become fame-hungry trying to now entice grieving congregants.

And to top it off, he mispronounces my name during the service 3 times! That face-to-face meeting with him that was so important, he couldn’t even be bothered to remember how to pronounce my name correctly.

The staff at Co-Op funeral home were all very kind, really helpful, understanding & considerate. Father Phillip really ruined this experience for my Mum & I.

Thank you again to all at Co-Op Funeralcare.

The funeral was managed with utmost respect and the flowers were beautiful. My only comment is that staff in the office were asking me the same questions that were dealt with by colleagues and forms.

  • 5 Sheila Clayton 6th Aug 2021

Stewart was incredibly caring and myself and the whole family felt we were in such safe hands which we were so grateful for. He made a terrible day so much more bearable as did Vicky who led the service. We can’t thank them enough

From the time we notified them of dad’s death to the cremation we were treated with compassion and sympathy.  They led us through the arrangements and kept us up to date as the process progressed catering for our own take on the  order of service. Everyone from Sharon in the office  Stuart the  funeral director  Andy the driver  not forgetting  Steve the celebrant all did an excellent job and gave dad a service he would have been so pleased with.... thanks to all at coop funeral care

We used the Co-op having been told how professional they were by a friend. I would say that they were excellent, whenever we had a query they were there to answer it. We were informed of everything that we would need to do and we felt that the staff (James Stewart & Katelin) couldn't have done anymore for us they are a credit to the company and we thank you for all your help with my mum's funeral

  • 5 Mary Ann Targett 24th Jun 2021
