We can't thank Kirby and the team enough for making our mum's funeral such a special and fitting tribute to how amazing she was. In the days prior, everyone showed such kindness and gave us time, we never felt rushed, and we were made to feel comfortable to ask anything we needed. We were able to open up about our thoughts and fears when we talked with Kirby at our first meeting and we even had a laugh at points! So many people came up to us and said what a wonderful service it was, some said it was the most beautiful they'd ever witnessed! The order of service sheets looked so perfect and we really appreciate how you made a bespoke design so we could incorporate our artwork of mum's favourite flower, Bluebells, and the team adding in the wildflower seed packets we wanted to include. Again we had so many people say how beautiful they were and how lovely the photographs were. It made such a special keepsake for people who knew and loved our mum. The flowers and blue casket were beautiful and we really appreciated being able to see mum in the Chapel of Rest, and that it was possible for mums close friend to visit the day after we did - that meant a lot that she was able to do that. Also that we were able to do mums make up was important - feel so grateful for these little things being accommodated. Kirby was an absolute legend from the start to the end of the whole process. She has such empathy and nothing was too much trouble for her. We really feel she went above and beyond to make sure that this very important day for us was exactly as we wanted and gave us emotional support as well as practical, dedicating time to make sure that we were prepared and helped us to understand the process clearly, which was reassuring. She spoke to us both with such care and has such awareness of how differently people experience grief. She was able to support us both through everything, understanding that the way we are dealing with such terrible loss meant we had different needs. She did all she could to help us navigate what was happening in the most comforting way possible. She is also very skilled at navigating complications / tricky situations with family or friends with sensitivity and assertiveness, as shown with a particularly over-enthusiastic neighbour of mum's who phoned A.W.Lymn wanting to see mum. We were worried she'd feel offended if she couldn't but we knew mum wouldn't want it, so Kirby assured us she'd happily explain to her that it was family only and let us invite close friends privately. This way she spared us needing to deal with any awkwardness, so that was very helpful. During the service at the church she entertained our three year olds with the toys there so that we were able to focus on mum and all that was being said about her life and spirit, which meant a lot to us. Very impressive that she walked in those heels all the way from our house to the church too! Being collected and following mum, with our neighbours stood outside their houses waving her off was so special. Kirby said that it was more than a job for her and that really shows in the way she chooses to do things, we are so grateful that we had her as our funeral director. She had been due to be off work the day of the service but she could see what it would mean to us to have her look after us on the day she changed her plans especially, and that takes a special kind of person to do that. Mum would be so happy that someone so caring and down-to-earth was there for us through it all. It's like it was meant to be! Kirby must be making her loved ones, present and lost, so proud of her for helping families during the most painful times of their lives, to feel comfort and closeness to their loved ones in such a special way and supporting them through it all. The whole day was so perfect, we really did give mum the special and wonderful send off she deserved, which was so important to us. Our dad was so touched by all of it, he said it was perfect. Mum would be so proud of us and thankful to all who helped make it happen, as we are. Kirby is such a professional and took care of us whilst we were understandably emotional and overwhelmed on the day, even though I'm sure it was like herding cats (!) and never made us feel anything but comfortable to grieve as we needed, even when we were running a bit late after the service. She facilitated us helping to carry mum to her final resting place which was very poignant for us (though I'm not sure how much 'help' we were!). Mum chose A.W.Lymn Wollaton and had organised a lot before she passed, we are lucky we had such a caring and thoughtful mum....and she chose well! We feel grateful for the whole experience and Kirby is an absolute credit to the company, though I've no doubt you will have heard this many times before. Thank you Kirby, you didn't know mum but she'd definitely have liked you! Thank you to the whole team as well, we couldn't have asked for anything more. Thank you, thank you :) Tania and Imogen

About Us
The Wollaton branch originally belonged to the Ilkeston Co-op Funeral Service before being incorporated into the A W Lymn group in 2003. The funeral home was formerly based on Arleston Drive in Wollaton, but was moved in late July 2014 to a purposed designed site on Wollaton Road called Deer Park House.
The new premises has off-street car parking and a beautiful visitation room with its own private waiting area.
The office was formerly a police station and features a large, bright, modern client reception, as well as state-of-the-art rooms.
The office is run by Funeral Director Kirby Cranshaw with the help of Funeral Arranger Sky O’Neill.
The funeral home is open Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm and on Saturdays from 9 am to 12.30 pm. You can also make an appointment to see someone after hours via the telephone number.
The branch covers all of Wollaton and its surroundings including Bilborough, Bramcote, Nuthall, Strelley, Trowell, Watnall and beyond.
A.W.Lymn The Family Funeral Service is managed and owned by the Lymn Rose family. Nigel, Jackie and Matthew Lymn Rose are the directors of the company.
