The morning after my mother passed away I received a phone call from Edward at Co-op Funeralcare, Tweedmouth. From that first call I knew we were in good hands. We met Edward that afternoon, to begin discussing arrangements. In the next few days there were many phone calls back and forth, either with Edward or Ruth, all handled with kindness and compassion. We also had a visit from Sarah, the Civil Celebrant, to discuss the funeral service. A lovely young lady, who was like a breath of fresh air, just when we needed it. Finally, the day of my mother’s funeral was perfectly orchestrated by Alistair, again handled with such care and kindness. I can never thank all of the team enough, for everything they did.

Like most people, losing my Dad was tough. He was 91 and although you know he can't live forever, you are never really ready for the end. The COOP funeral care building was one he walked past for the last 30 years of his life, when he walked to and from his business in Tweedmouth and he knew I would be using them for his funeral i.e. it meant something to him - not just an anonymous service. The care myself and my daughter received, was outstanding. Nothing was too much for everybody and Alistair and Ruth in particular. They really cared about providing a funeral that worked for us and they cared about my Dad too and knowing that he was in their care after leaving the hospital, was a big relief. We wanted a simple funeral package but also wanted to add on a couple of items that were important to us The COOP was flexible enough to be able to do that for us. They also suggested taking the hearst to my Dads old Garage where he worked for the last 30 years of his life. This was so special for us and just one example of the personal touch that Alistair and Ruth provided. My daughter and I didn't think going to the Crematorium was something that would be a positive expereince and my Dad didn't want that either. However, I had full faith in Alistair to accompany him there, to listen to the music we chose and to see him off with maximum dignity and respect. So if you are wondering if that would be right for you, please know that your loved one will be accompanied every step of the way. The flowers that we received from Buds in Tweedmouth were also outstanding and the casket didn't have a free inch without flowers. All of this and more - from the people behind the scenes e.g. Sarah that i spoke to on the phone and the hearst driver, were excellent - the flowers were even brought to my home by Alistair and the driver and we have been enjoying them for the past 2 weeks. I don't know what I expected regarding Dads funeral, but I would describe what we got as 'beautiful'. This will give us great comfort as we move through the years. I would not hesitate to recommend the COOP funeral care to anybody and in fact I have been raving about the experience since the day of the funeral. The care actually continues after the event - with Ruth being so kind and compassionate to phone me, just to check in to see if I was ok. I also bought a beautiful urn for them and again, it depicts the whole experience - beautiful. Many many thanks for everything.

    Lesley and Phoebe.

My Mum was straight to cremation. First experience of not only a mum dying but no funeral. Totally my mums wishes which I respect and will probably ask for myself. Anyway. Ruth could not have been more professional. Considerate and kind. She really made my whole experience of this sad loss better.
