From the start communication was excellent. We were making the arrangements at a distance and Sophie helped us through the organisation, linking with the doctor, the coroner and the registrars. She organised the flowers and put us in touch with a celebrant, who was also first class. The whole process made our role so much easier, thank you.

The service we received from Hitchin Funeralcarw was impeccable. Sophie at the Hitchin branch was so helpful, understanding and a real credit to them. Nothing was too much effort and kept us informed all the way through.  The service was beautiful and the celebrant matched to us was perfect. The drivers and funeral director did a great job on what was a sad day.  Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. Excellent service in what was a difficult time.  Very grateful thankyou

We had coop for my Mums funeral in 2021. They are amazing , professional and have lovely staff. So when Dad passed away it was without hesitation that we used them again . Thank you for looking after our parents .

The staff, especially Sophia was very caring in ensuring my daughter received such a lovely funeral. They had a difficult job, as this funeral plan was done years in advance in Hampshire, a few things had to be changed, which they ensured any replacement was to my likely, or like for like. They did a wonderful, professional job, nothing was too much to ask. Highly recommended.

Hard to review this at such a devastating time.  Sophie has a great understanding sensitive approach towards us  and nothing negative to report.. Also I would to say Lynn Parker our celebrant was an exceptional person and last thing I had to go to Letchworth branch who also were very supportive

Both funerals went very smoothly and everything was just right down to the smallest detail.

Having never dealt with a Funeral Directors before I had no idea what to expect, but I'm glad we only had to organise a Direct Cremation and not a full-on Funeral with Jennings.

Don't get me wrong, Marion was patient, full of empathy and answered all our questions (some of them took a while, but she got there eventually) but for me the overall service was disjointed and too many things just weren't quite right.

The Funeral Guide website showed Jennings as using our local Crematorium, therefore we had the choice to pick up the ashes locally, rather than paying £50 to have them delivered to Jennings. At our appointment we realised that this was not the case; they no longer used our local Crematorium (because of unacceptable lead times), therefore we had no choice but to pay the extra.

We also (wrongly) assumed that our loved one was being cared for locally, so that relatives would easily be able to visit and view, if they chose to. Again, no, this was not the case, but was not made at all clear on the website.

A personal item was taken with our loved one, and could not be located for over a week. Marion did eventually get this back to us, but it took a while and ended up travelling around the country first.

There was a mix-up over whether our loved one could be dressed in their own clothes or not. We were told no, then yes, then a definite no. It was quite upsetting that an outfit had already been carefully chosen, but could not be worn.

The most upsetting was when we ordered a scatter tube for the ashes. Nowhere on the website does it mention that a scatter tube does not hold all the ashes and that the remainder would be supplied in a cardboard box!

I don't know whether becoming part of the Co-op has made this service disjointed. Perhaps the staff knew their services inside-out when it was just Jennings, not owned by a big corporation. I hope that's the case, but I was disappointed with the overall experience, so wouldn't use them again.

The compassionate and respectful service from the whole team was outstanding. This is not a process I've ever had to manage before and it was made so straight-forward. My Dad had requested we use the Co-Op and he was right - they took me through the whole day step by step in advance and then helped make it all go smoothly. Thank you everyone for allowing the whole family and our friends to say farewell Dad in the best way possible.
