Loosing Dad, mums husband was a tough time for our family. We left him in the mortuary at hospital and closure for us was a problem having only seen him last in a white robe. After ... signing up with Stibbards, dad was transported to their funeral Palour in Southend and we were informed when he was resting with them. The director, Janice was very professional and listed out the prices and requirements. We wanted the best for our dad because we loved him, so even though we were strapped for cash, we ordered one of the most expensive coffins in their catalogue. It was fantastic to be allowed to make an appointment to view Dad's body in a private room. Janice was always accommodating and polite to Dad by talking to him and telling him we were here as she led us into the room. We know he had passed, but this showed respect for his body. The best or most commendable part of this journey was how the hearse and limo procession conducted themselves. The attire and care of passengers was first class. Dad had a dignified send-off, and despite the cost, which was not unreasonable due to the high standards, it was more than acceptable. I thank God a company like Stibbards exists because it made closure and burial a very fluid and satisfactory experience. Rest in Peace, Dad. We have done the best we can for your funeral. more

About Us
The caring team at S Stibbards & Sons understand that contacting a funeral director can seem daunting, but with over 150 years experience, they are there to listen, reassure and support families at this very difficult time.
As a funeral home with family values at its heart, its focus is upon providing compassionate funeral care to families in Westcliff and the surrounding villages, including Foulness Island, at whatever time of day or night it is needed.
When it can be hard to focus on decision-making, it is the role of their caring team to listen and support families in a reassuring space where they can focus on their loved one.
S Stibbards & Sons’ Westcliff funeral home was built in 2016, and contains its own specialist washing facilities, meaning that your loved one can be cared for according to your own cultural traditions. It also has a private chapel of rest where you can spend precious time saying goodbye to your loved one. Should you prefer support in more familiar surroundings, a home visit can be arranged.
Whether families prefer a full traditional funeral service, or a quiet farewell tailored to their needs, funeral director Martin Stibbards and his experienced staff aim to ensure that the arrangements fulfil every family’s wishes.
Stibbards offers a fleet of modern Jaguar hearses and limousines to ensure families and their loved one will travel in comfort, driven by their professional staff. Traditional horse-drawn hearses, vintage vehicles and other bespoke options can also be arranged.
S Stibbards & Sons is a member of the National Association of Funeral Directors and Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Homes Association (SAIF) and meets the high standards set by both.
It offers Golden Charter funeral plans to those who are considering the future, while as part of its support for families, it offers in-house bereavement counselling.
