Allan, the main funeral arranger I dealt with, was very helpful and easy to contact. He fully understood the difficult circumstances surrounding the funeral arrangements and made very helpful suggestions. On the day Sam and his colleagues ensured that everything ran smoothly. It was a great relief and I am very grateful to all concerned.

Allan was very informative and always kept us up to date with steps as they progressed whilst organising my dad's funeral. Very pleasant, friendly and professional. On the day Matt and the pallbearers were very professional and with their professionalism, made the experience so much more bearable

COOP funeral care responded to our request to hold the funeral with them using the pre-paid plan in place. Initial discussions provided us with the relevant information. The time we had to wait for a slot at Crematorium was quite long...a month. It would have been helpful if there were more designs for having the ashes made into different paper weights. Communication from COOP funeral care could be improved as we had to ask for the invoice and the time for the cars arrival before funeral.

Unfortunately during the funeral service, a significant error was made. If it had not been for this error, I would have rated the overall service as average or even very good as, apart from this one mistake, the service and delivery was of a reasonable standard.

This error was made in respect of the floral tributes, which had a significant impact on the quality of service that we received. The main floral tribute which was intended for my mother’s coffin was a cross just over three feet in length, which was made by my cousin as she has an extensive experience in flower arranging. My wife and I were the only passengers that were due to travel in the hearse and it was agreed that we would be collected from my cousin's house as it is located in Braintree close to the Coop branch that we were using and our chosen crematorium. In light of these circumstances, we decided not to deliver the cross to the premises of the Braintree branch in advance of the funeral service but for it to be collected at my cousin’s house when we joined the hearse on the day.

When the hearse arrived at my cousin’s house, there was a small circular floral tribute of about one foot in diameter already on the coffin. This floral tribute had been dispatched directly to the Braintree Coop branch by my mother’s former neighbours and the staff at the branch were made aware that this tribute was from friends and would not be the main tribute. The cross along with a few other smaller tributes was loaded into the hearse but none of them were placed on the coffin. Only the small tribute from my mother’s neighbours remained on top of the coffin. My wife and I assumed that when the coffin was carried into the crematorium either all the other floral tributes would be placed on the coffin or at the very least the cross would have been placed there with the tribute from my mother’s neighbours. However, when the coffin was carried into the crematorium, only the tribute from my mother’s neighbours was on top of it. The remaining tributes, including the cross, were kept outside for viewing after the service. As my wife and I opted to have everyone seated before the coffin was carried into the crematorium, we did notice this error until after the service had started. Therefore, correcting this mistake would have meant interrupting the service.

My cousin was very close to my mother and making this cross herself was her way of paying her last respects to her. Furthermore, making the cross was quite resource intensive for her. She was therefore very disappointed that her cross was not placed on the top of the coffin during the service. If the pallbearers were in any doubt about which tributes were to be placed on the coffin, they could have asked. Another family member who helped to load the floral tributes at my cousin’s house has confirmed that at no point was he asked about where any of the floral tributes were to be located. Furthermore, the cross was significantly bigger in size than any of the other floral tributes, which should have given the pallbearers a clear indication that this was the main tribute and one that should definitely be placed on top of the coffin.

The whole team did an excellent job from start to finish. They kept us informed about costs, how the funeral would go and what to expect. They showed deep regard for our situation and answered any questions we had and no pressure was applied to choose something more expensive, they help you do it they way you want. A great team of people.

Not a review that I wanted to be doing so early in my late wife’s life. But from the moment I slowly walked through the door all the staff there couldnt of been more supportive or helpful than if they tried. They not only treated me with dignity and respect but they went above and beyond for my Karen.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart for looking after Karen and me thankyou
          Paul
