From my initial contact, with Eric at the Hessle Road branch, to the end of the funeral service it was excellent. Nothing was to much trouble and each and everyone of the team I spoke with over the phone and face to face, whilst arranging different aspects of the funeral, was so sympathetic and empathised with me.
The flowers were of the highest quality, as were the order of service cards and again the family truly appreciated them. I fully recommend the service being streamed also, because those who could not attend commented on how good it was for visual and audio clarity.
For such a sad loss in our lives, it was so comforting to have M Garton & Son help me arrange the funeral, which allowed myself and the family to grieve knowing my mum was in such caring hands.
Once again I would like to thank M Garton & Son for everything.

Lee was great, informative, empathetic and easy to talk to and nothing was a problem. Lee did all the thinking for us which was so appreciated when you have so many other things on your mind. Lee made sure that my deceased Aunty was always treated and spoken of respectfully and compassionately ,even making sure a beautiful rose was left with her and the rest of the flowers shared with the family and friends to remember her. Everything you need plus the little touches that make the funeral as special as the person you are saying goodbye to.

From the first phone call instructing Gartons in Hull, we were treat with compassion, and understanding. Lee provided practical advice and completely took over the arrangements for order of service, music and other issues surrounding mums funeral and cremation.

quite honestly we could have gone elsewhere and probably paid less, but with this level of attention to detail and service, the phrase 'you get what you pay for' is never more true in this case. Gartons were worth every penny of the agreed price in terms of both the service they provided, and their professional approach. Thanks to Lee and the whole team for making what should have been an extremely sad time, more bearable by dealing with and arranging the ancilliary details that we would have struggled with.

Gartons have organised the funerals for both our parents 5 years apart.
As a Church of England priest I have worked with this industry for over 35 years and I would like to pay tribute to Gartons for their professionalism and effectiveness in dealing with our Father's death in December 2020 at the peak of the 2020 COVID pandemic.
Options were of course limited but they managed to ensure that our wishes were all taken care of and everyone was hugely impressed.
The invoice at the end of the process was extremely reasonable, all costs were visible and there were no surprises. Thank you.

Garton’s Funeral Directors did such a wonderful job in helping and advising my family with such an upsetting moment in our lives. They were thoughtful, caring and very patient with my family when helping us plan a service that was perfect for my dad.
A huge thank you to everyone and in particular to Lee, who made every special moment and stage of grief much easier for us to cope with, individually and as a family. Garton’s helped us make a perfect farewell memory of my dad. I will always be grateful for their wonderful service leading up to the funeral and afterwards.

FANTASTIC. M. Garton & Son really know how to deliver exceptional customer service. Extremely empathic, highly professional and personable. These guys bent over backwards to meet our (at times extraordinary!) needs.
Sadly, my dear Dad passed away in Hull, on 18 July 2020. I live in Australia and due to Covid-19 restrictions I was neither able to be with him whilst he passed, nor attend the funeral. However, upon calling M Garton & Son, my first contact was with Lee who immediately made me feel at ease, explained these uncharted waters to me and ensured that I was a part of the process every step of the way.
Soon, a Facetime chat was arranged with my brother and together we were able to plan the service and make such important decisions. In spite of the time difference, I felt able to call the team at any time and even arranged a viewing via Facetime. Upon learning my Dad's West African background, the team immediately mentioned Reverend Bagshawe who had links with Freetown and actually knew my dad. From Australia, we were able to participate in the eulogies and view the funeral service via a webcast, all with the help of Lee, Fraser, Eric, Garth and so many others of the amazing M. Garton & Son Team at Hessle Road. I would strongly urge you to give them a call to experience at first hand these incredible funeral directors. Helen Tomlinson

Garton's were extremely thorough and professional throughout the planning of my mother's funeral. At such an upsetting time for our family, Garton's showed sensitivity and really helped us to fulfil our wishes to give mum the funeral she deserved, especially during these restrictive times. I would like to express my sincere thanks to Lee and his team for their kind support in arranging the funeral for my dear husband after his sudden death in H.R.I. My family and I were so grateful for their advice at this stressful time. To see him in The Chapel of Rest was a great comfort and the service at the crematorium went well despite the restrictions. It is currently especially difficult due to covid-19 and numbers of people who could attend the service was severely limited. So I was very pleased to be offered the webcast link enabling family and friends to at least see the service online. I would definitely use Gartons again as we have used their services in 2004 for the funeral of our father and again in 2011 for our mother.

Our family cannot thank Eric and his team at Garton's Funeral Directors in Gipsyville enough for their support on the loss of a very loved mum and nanna recently. Their support continued when looking after our loved one and when we were visiting their chapel of rest. Eric supported and guided the two son's, three grandsons and son in-law when carrying our mum on the day of the funeral. We had no hesitation in selecting Eric and his team when the inevitable happened and they showed empathy and kindness in this very upsetting time.

Lee and Eric and team and celebrant Rachel are a fantastic team ! On what is a very emotional and difficult day they made the day perfect. Lee went above and beyond in his duties returning my mum to me. ( Thank you Keith !) Sadly 2nd time I have used their services this year as my Dad passed away also , but a 1st class service each time ! Thank you so much to you all ??

Each time their service has been excellent, always keeping you informed and up to date with proceedings. At no time did I feel pressured into making choices or into making purchases of "extras" I felt where unnecessary or not suited. The care and attention they provide, before, during and after is first class and I have no hesitation in recommending them.

I can’t thank M Garton&Son Funeral Directors, Hessle Rd enough for all their amazing assistance and support during challenging COVID times with the loss of my father.
We live in Toronto, Canada and Eric and the team helped both my cousin in England and myself In Canada with all arrangements required to be able to give my father his prefect farewell, especially during COVID times, and he fact that I was not able to travel to be there in person.
The fact that most of our family is located in Toronto, Canada and Portland USA, they arranged for my father’s service to be streamed live to include us all by web conference in our homes which allowed us all be together to participate at the same time with everyone who was able to attend in England (5 hour time difference accommodated). 
They really took the stress out of all the requirements out of our hands, however made sure that we were included in all decisions.  I don’t think we would have been able to manage the process in Canada as smoothly without their support, guidance, and coordination.  I feel my father would have been very proud of his celebration of life.

Lee and his team showed us a great deal of kindness and compassion over the loss of our baby. They made an extremely difficult time a lot more bearable and helped us through the difficult days by allowing us to spend precious time with our baby. Before the death of my father, we hadn't given much thought to which Funeral Director we would use and so made our decision based on previous reviews left, hence why I have chosen to leave this one.

My father died during the night at home, early June in the middle of the coronavirus lockdown. We contacted Gartons early Saturday morning after his passing and Lee was immediately reassuring and professional, confirming the household Covid-19 status before explaining how they would attend to collect dad within the hour. John and a colleague arrived and were very sensitive in what is clearly a difficult time. Dad was taken discreetly and with great dignity.

As with all things at the time, normal proceedings had been suspended, so arrangements for the funeral were made by telephone again with Lee and there were some restrictions in place in terms of what was allowed but this was all explained and we made our informed choices.

We visited dad at the Funeral Directors and he looked so peaceful and smart. He had clearly been looked after well after his death and in preparation for his funeral.

Fraser took charge at the funeral, he again was very reassuring and explained everything and ensured that we were well looked after.

The funeral was a very small intimate affair (numbers limited to 10) but I don't think this in any way diminished Dads send off. We made use of the Obitus webcast available so that others could view the funeral remotely.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend or use Gartons again, they were professional from start to finish and most importantly took good care of my Dad!

Lee at Gartons talked me through everything and gave great advice when I was unsure. This waa the first funeral I have had to organise and they made it as lovely as it could be, even agreeing to drive by my uncles care home for the staff to pay their respects. Highly recommend them.
