Everything about Garton's was excellent from right from the initial meeting. Frazer was compassionate, caring and professional from the start. He was able to understand and explain the process for all the digital tributes we wanted. Garton's organised Paul Hamby as celebrant who brilliantly conducted the non religious celebration as a performance that was very well done. On the day of the funeral Garton's were excellent, I couldn't fault them and I would highly recommend them.

My mum, sisters and I would like to thank M Garton & Son funeral directors for the overall service we received for the funeral of our dad   
From the very start we found Lee to be a very welcoming person, who was very helpful and seemed very sensitive to our needs. He put us at our ease in what was a very stressful time for us. 
He guided us through the process, giving advice as and when we needed without any pressure. 
Tony Nolan the celebrant was so easy to talk to. He listened to our stories about dad and managed to put it all in chronological order, again taking away the stress we were all feeling. 
On the day everything went to plan. Lee made sure we knew what to do, where to go and when. 
All in all the service went smoothly and all involved were respectful and sensitive. 
We would definitely recommend Gartons to any of our friend and family.

We lost our mum recently and as you can imagine this was an extremely sad and difficult time for us. Our mum had already paid and planned for her funeral as was her wish, so a lot of the decision making had already been completed. Even so there was still a lot to organise and decide. I can honestly say that the team at Garton's were extremely kind, and guided us through all the stages of the process. We couldn't have managed without their help and support. I know it is a cliche but they treated our mum with care and dignity from the very start which was extremely comforting.
At times like this you need people to take control and organise things which they did with such care and attention to detail. Not only were they helpful but they also listened to us and treated us all with such grace and care. On behalf of our Mum and ourselves we would like to give you all a really big Thankyou for what you did for us all.

Our family have used Garton’s for decades and feel that they are second to none, showing the height of professionalism and compassion at all times.

From our first contact with them they took away the burden of making arrangements, kept in constant contact and dealt with every aspect of their job with kindness and respect.

Lee was our main contact but whoever we spoke to knew what was going on and was able to help with any queries. Lee had all the information needed to make our decisions easier during the funeral arrangement process and again he was compassionate and respectful with just the right amount of humour to lift our spirits. We can’t fault their service, nothing was too much trouble and as a family we are so grateful for everything they did, at a time when it meant so much. Thank you.

As always Gartons have been professional, sensitive and efficient. They are our families choice when looking for a local dependable service.
It has been particularly difficult with COVID-19 restrictions but Gartons have ensured everything ran smoothly and we were kept fully informed throughout the arrangements.
We as a family really appreciate their sensitivity and empathy.
Specially Eric who corresponded with Rev Tony Cotson and with him also corresponding with my husband Vics manager at Hull City Council ensuring Vics final wishes to have the cortege drive through Hull Interchange.
Eric has been particularly helpful throughout a most difficult time for me and our family.

We have used Gartons since 1980 when we first lost my Dad. Over the years I’ve lost my sister & niece, aunties, uncles & mum and through all of this, I cannot fault their service and compassion and would not look to use any other funeral directors.

We used M Garton & Sons for the funeral of my dad Donald Simpson and found they went above and beyond what we expected. The services we were offered was done with such care and understanding to our needs and genuine respect for my dad. This was given by all members of staff from the two gentlemen who came to collect my dad from our home, who even paused at the doorway so my bedbound daughter could say her final goodbyes, to Lee, who works at the Hessle High Road office, who could not of been more professional and caring. He made me feel reassured that dad was been looked after by speaking to him, ensuring dad was dressed how he would of wanted and making my visits to dad as comforting as possible. I would especially like to mention Lee for filming the entire service when the webcast was broken, so my bedbound daughter and others who could not attend due to the current covid pandemic could still watch the service. I cannot praise their highly professional and caring services enough. ...

I undertook the arranging of my Mother's funeral at short notice. I was very pleased to find Garton and Son's website. Everything was clearly laid out, including costs- this was very important for myself, I did not want to be calling round multiple funeral directors at that time.

From first point of contact, Garton and Son's approach was spot on. They guided me through this painful process with just the right level of assistance. I was consulted and kept informed, without feeling hassled, at every stage. They did my Mother proud.

Cannot speak highly enough of Lee who helped and supported me through a very difficult time , the loss of my Dad...the first parent loss and organising a funeral was made I feel much less painful. I felt he was there supporting from the 1st phone call all way through with reassuring phone calls and updates! Their thought and consideration made a perfect farewell and their recommendation of Rachel the celebrant has also to be noted, received such lovely comments on the day about service.

I felt the care and support offered by everyone at Gartons to be fantastic. Making arrangements can be a very difficult and distressing time but they take the time to make this as straightforward as possible making the whole situation a lot easier to deal with.


On the day of the funeral I found them to be very professional , caring and compassionate from start to finish.

After contacting the funeral directors in the early hours of my dear dad sadly passing away l was given lots of comfort and dad was treated with great dignity and found much comfort to find a beautiful card attached to a  white carnation as dad left for his peaceful rest home...l was then contacted by lee at the Hessle road rest rooms and arranged a visit at my home within a couple of days what a gentleman man he was..we had smiles and a bit of banter ( that’s what dad would of liked) everything was just so perfect from lee coming to leaving l was informed every step of the way. everything we was expecting and more.little personal touches l had asked for, nothing was a task for anyone at this difficult time,flower arrangements was stunning too! If lee was not there to answer my questions at the time l rang his response was immediately responsive...dad’s send was absolutely perfect in every way possible and thank you all for your kind thoughtful and caring service that you have pro ... vided for my dear dads new life

At a time when you’re not thinking clearly and feeling vulnerable, you’re not in the mindset to plan for an emotional event you’d rather hadn’t happened.

Amongst all the offers from family and friends to help, it was the professionalism of the M Garton & Sons team to take control from that initial phone call, that made it bearable. Most things you don’t even know you need to know but Frazer was exceptional at explaining every detail, for every decision, at every stage that mattered. Everything else, they just took care of, so we didn’t have to.

I could comment on their excellent level of service, impeccable resting environment, friendly and personable approach; but it was the seamlessness and work behind the scenes that, in retrospect we valued the most. Our focus was able to be firmly where it should have been - with our grief and with our families.

I cannot thank them enough for this and their continued success as a locally-owned business is a refle ... ction of the quality and effort the team put in.

It is therefore without reservation, I would recommend M Gartons & Sons to you to take care of your loved one with the kindness and utmost care you could only hope for. more
