From initial telephone calls, through meetings to the day of the funeral, our funeral director, Mick Scholefiel, was wonderful. When making arrangements his advice and patience was really appreciated. The day of the funeral went very smoothly and greatly helped to relieve the stress of these occasions. I would recommend A W Lymn, Cotmanhay, to anyone wanting an excellent service from a funeral director.
In 2003, the Cotmanhay branch joined A.W. Lymn The Family Funeral Service. Before then, it was the headquarters of the Ilkeston Co-op Funeral Service, which opened in 1979.
Bennerley House, the beautiful building where the funeral home is located, originally belonged to a local carpenters and includes a reception area, family rooms, visitation rooms, cold room facilities and garaging for part of our fleet of Rolls-Royce hearses and limousines.
Mick Schofield is the funeral director responsible for this office and is assisted by funeral director Nikki Anderson.
The opening times are from 9 am to 5 pm from Monday to Friday, but you can call at any time on the telephone number to arrange an appointment – you will then be able to arrange a meeting at your convenience.
The branch covers all of Cotmanhay and its surrounding area, including Awsworth, Cossall, Eastwood, Heanor, Langley Mill, Loscoe, Shipley, Smalley, Stanley, West Hallam and further afield.
A W Lymn The Family Funeral Service was founded in 1907 and is now managed by Nigel, Matthew and Jackie Lymn Rose.

Professional, caring and compassionate, Mick paid attention to every detail of the wishes Mum had left alongside her funeral plan. Words cannot express how grateful we are to him, his intuition is astounding, he knew instinctively how she would have wanted everything! Lymns provided a very personal service, not 'overdone' in any way. Mick, our point of contact was very friendly and provided all necessary information. Wayne, our driver was also very friendly.

We would like to thank Mick and his staff for being very professional but also approachable to help us to organise and implement the funeral for Mum.
He was able to explain the options that were available and helped us to implement all our wishes for the service at the crematorium that we required.
We would also like to thank the coffin bearers, who supported the grandchildren to carry their grandmother on her last journey
In addition to this a special thank you for arranging the bus, so that the family could all travel together

Mick at AW Lymns is very easy to talk to and friendly. With the sad loss of dad it was very comforting and supportive to have his help sorting everything out. The service given is very professional and accommodating they will let you personalise things and give advice on what works well in their experience. We have used Lymns previously and would use them again.
