A.W. Lymn's Derby office was originally opened by funeral director David Meek in 1986 and the premises are located in the City Centre, at Derwent House, on Becket Street.
The office features garaging for a new fleet of Rolls Royce Phantom cars and also displays a hearse from the 1890’s. Derwent House includes a reception, off-street parking, a family room, a visitation room, cold room facilities and washing facilities for Asian and African / Caribbean funeral rites.
Kevin Hall, the senior funeral director who manages the surrounding area, has been with A W Lymn since 2003 and is aided at the branch by funeral arranger Greg Martin.
The office opening hours are 9 am to 5 pm from Monday to Friday, and 9 am to 12.30 pm on Saturday. You can call anytime of the day, seven days a week to schedule an appointment outside of these hours if you would prefer.
This branch covers Derby city centre and its surrounding areas including Allestree, Alvaston, Belper, Breadsall, Chaddesden, Darley Abbey, Duffield, Littleover, Mackworth, Markeaton, Osmaston, Pride Park, Sinfin, Spondon and beyond.
Nigel Lymn Rose along with his son Matthew and his sister Jackie own and manage A W Lymn The Family Funeral Service.

Everything was perfect. Lymns kept me informed and helped me all the way through the funeral of my husband. My husband wanted an unusual ceremony and Lymns were happy to go along with our wishes and at the end of the day we had many compliments.

In addition to the emotional support we had throughout the whole process. Nothing was too much and all we wanted was fulfilled to a beautiful celebration of a deeply missed member of our family. Greg and the whole team were kind/understanding/sympathetic and respectful towards us following the loss of our Father. Nothing was too much trouble and they made the process stress free- this leaves us with good memories of arranging his final farewell. Words can't describe the way I feel. People always say nobody is perfect. But for me these funeral directors are. They were outstanding very compassionate caring and kind. I know its their job but they made me feel so special they took great care of my mum she looked so peaceful and beautiful at rest.
From the very first meeting with Greg at the office to the heart wrenching final goodbye they were there patiently. This was so touching and soothing as I felt there was no rush and this above everything helped me cope better
Kevin took the time to introduce himself and listened so patiently There are many things to say and I know this review is very long but I can't stop writing and remembering.
The celebrant, Claire was so good at writing that it felt like she knew my mum she took great care to get everything just right. I dreaded going to see my mum in her coffin as I didn't want to say goodbye but Greg made it better there were candles and I remember thinking ... my mum loved candles I wish she could see them silly I know. Then the dreaded moment of seeing mum it was a shock because she looked so peaceful I had expected she would have a pained expression. I had asked that she have subtle makeup and her red dress and she had been dressed and everything to the smallest detail had been done. This was a great comfort to me as
it will remain in my mind forever. This is what is makes Lym funerals in my mind perfect and outstanding. I will forever have that beautiful image of my mum on my mind.
The funeral is too too hard to write about but it's important for me to say if your looking for your sad day to be as perfect as possible please choose these. They care its more than a job I know lots say this about funeral directors nurses doctors and others in caring professions but I felt cared for and I can't find any words to express this

For the second time in six months our family lost a relative; the second of my wife's parents left suddenly. We had been to Lymns of Derby for the funeral of my wife's mother in July/August last year when she passed away, and were so impressed by their experience and caring, honest & helpful attitudes that there was really no question of going to someone else. And again they did us proud. Both Neil the funeral director and Kaitlan the arranger went out of their way to provide everything we would need, and kept us up to date with every development in the process. Their kindness & down to earth humanity helped us through the sadness & loss-yet they never lost their sense of professionalism. We would wholeheartedly recommend Lymns of Derby especially Neil & Kaitlan, but also the drivers/bearers who looked after us on both funeral days. All the staff we met have an amazing attitude & pride in the service they provide, and we would like say a huge heartfelt thanks to eve ... ryone there.

From the first phone call, Lymn's staff hit perfectly the balance between sympathy and pragmatism. They gave us space to make our own decisions but also straightforward and practical advice where we needed it, from the planning meeting right through to the ceremony itself. I have no words for the gratitude and appreciation I have for the Derby Beckett Street branch. All staff work so hard to go above and beyond. Kevin has been working closely with the family to make sure everything is perfect for our mum. His professionalism is on a level that can not be brought. Nothing is ever to much for all the staff and they make you feel so at ease with the loss of a loved one and arranging a funeral. All staff have been amazing throughout and we are so very thankful. They have looked after my mum and prepared her with so much love and care. So glad we changed from our original choice the this company for mums funeral arrangements. I will never use anywhere else in the future. Highly recommend this branch and all the staff.
