H C Grimstead gave us excellent service for the funeral of my mother. Everything went perfectly from initial meeting with Claudine, through to the service at the crematorium on the day. They took on board our intention for the service to be a celebration of mum's life and approached it in a spirit that matched our needs. They also recommended a superb celebrant who we could not fault. I highly recommend Grimstead's.

Overall the funeral turned out well …. But if you try to call or email the branch for an update or to adjust something you’ll get put through to head office at Manchester 99% of the time and they promise a call back which doesn’t happen.

Abby and her team were excellent. Our initial appointment was with Claudine, who was very kind and professional. Everything was fully explained and there no no pressure or hard sell. Time was not an issue. Abby joined us when she was back at the office and her extensive experience was evident.
Communication was excellent and I spoke often to Amy who was again a lovely lady.
When I went to see my father in the Chapel of Rest they could not have been more supportive and kind.
Abby was fantastic on funeral day and I will recommend her and her team to everyone.

Our first meeting with the funeral directors was basically unprofessional. Amy kept speaking of the fact she needed to leave early that day because she had a party to go to. While trying to sort out what we could have for our mum’s funeral Amy kept turning to talk to her colleague, helping her colleague with something on the computer. Then the phone was ringing and calls were being made around us. The colleague’s skirt was so short that to me and my brother it was insulting and totally inappropriate. Not to forget when we first walked in we were  greeted by a member of the team sat eating his lunch, which again did not shout out to us that  you’re a professional company.
Amy made many mistakes on the estimate. She missed out fees and didn’t clearly outline all the costs involved.
When asked what coffin we wanted I said we didn’t know what options there were and Amy just gave us a brochure and told us to look and choose from there. As awful as it sounds, we needed to know the cost involved and what the differences were in the coffins. Instead, Amy turned around and started chatting with her colleague. We needed guidance with what lining we should have in the coffin but again no guidance was given.
We had to push and push for you to collect our mum from the hospital morgue and take her to your chapel of rest, and in fact my brother had to threaten you with going to a different funeral directors for you to agree a day and time to collect mum. Even on the day we were chasing you to collect mum and again had to threaten to use another company.
Amy promised to call when mum had arrived at your chapel of rest, but that call never happened, my brother had to call Amy.
The day I went to see mum I was greeted with Amy in short shorts and a low cut vest top, again, totally inappropriate clothing in my mind. When she showed me in to my mum there felt very little compassion and she entered the room apologising because there was like a netting over the coffin that should have been folded back.
I was not happy with the way my mum looked and felt more could have been done to make her hair nicer.
The lining of the coffin quite frankly looked cheap and tacky  and had I known that’s what it was going to look like I may have chosen something different.
Amanda told me that for the funeral she had gone and bought bottles of water for us as it was still going to be a hot day.
When I asked for some water it was discovered that they had forgotten to put the water in the vehicle.
When we got to the cemetery there was a lot of discussion going on at the grave before the coffin was taken up. We were all told to stay by the cars while these discussions went on. Abbey, who until this point had been absolutely excellent, stood and beckoned us up to the grave, rather than being dignified and coming down to us.
On lowering mum into the ground she was left crooked and so we had to ask for them to sort that out.
All in all, we have found the company unprofessional, uncaring, undignified and totally lacking in empathy.

I’ve been to a lot of funerals but I was so impressed with these lovely ladies so helpful so much dignity shown they were all amazing above and beyond from start to finish 
I will use your company in the future unfortunately it won’t be this area with the same people 
I just hope they are of the same quality in my area

The ladies were absolutely amazing with me and my daughter from Start to finish- they talked us through everything anything we wanted changing was never to much for them even down to helping us with the little details to make my mums send off as special as possible, this has been our choice of funeral directors for sadly many family funerals now and without fault they have been outstanding every time I could never thank them enough for all their help

Amanda at HC Grimstead Amersham was fantastic. As I live in Canada and my mum's death was unexpected but planned for fortunately, everything had to be sorted in a very short time. During this stressful period, Amanda and I managed to get the funeral and cremation organised with no problems. The whole process ran very smoothly in a peaceful, dignified way, and my family and I are very grateful.
