Our assigned funeral director could not have been more helpful. She managed her team well and despite some initial technical issues with company systems being made she made us feel very well looked after in the circumstances

    Fantastic service ,would definitely recommend.

Since the first contact with Alannah at the Coop Funeralcare in Caversham, we decided straight away what a wonderfully warm & compassionate service we were being offered.
From start to finish, the sensitive suggestions of the Urn & flowers were beautiful.

On the day, my Mother wished to travel in the hearse, where were were met by an RAF stand bearer at the gate; the funeral celebrant worked with the pall bearers and funeral staff who were exceptional, especially Alistair who assisted throughout the service where necessary.
We would highly recommend Coop Funeralcare to anyone.

I had a prepaid funeral plan for my niece who was in residential care. I live in Glasgow, our family have always used Co-op funeralcare. I was not disappointed! The attention I received was amazing. Working with the home manager and myself Allanah was most helpful and I was kept informed and consulted on every detail. When I went to funeral in Reading with my daughter all the staff were so caring. A big thank you to you all! I recommend a prepaid funeral plan it takes so much pressure off family and I couldn’t believe all that it covered. Greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much, Alannah was the first person we spoke with at Church Street, Caversham office and continued to be our main contact. She is very thoughtful, caring and provided all the information required to make this sad journey a little easier and we are very grateful. Alannah thank you for being so kind x

Following the unexpected death of my stepdad we contacted Co-op Funeralcare for a direct cremation.  From the moment we spoke, I immediately felt reassured and supported.  They took care of everything and offered additional help and advice.  I highly recommend their services and would not hesitate to use them again.

My partner requested an unattended cremation. The staff were helpful, efficient and considerate in meeting this request. I can't fault the service and the price was competitive.

  • 5 Pauline Janice Watts 24th Sep 2023

As this was the first time I've had to arrange a funeral I found the process extremely easy. Alannah was very sympathetic and helpful especially with form filling. I would not hesitate to recommend your services.

However friendly and caring to a level making it easier for the family and friends
Many thanks to all  the staff

  • 2 John Langridge 20th Feb 2023

Due to staff shortages quite a few important things sadly went wrong for us as a family one main thing being her ortopsy scars being left uncovered when they visited the Chapel of rest which was incredibly distressing.
And nobody answering the phone which was also very difficult as we had to drive there to be in a position to speak to a member of staff.
Very sad and upsetting for us all.
There were many other things that I'm not in a position to list at this time.

  • 4 Sarah Davenport 20th Feb 2023

I would like to thank the team at Reading Funeralcare for there kindness and support while I was organising my Mother's funeral
The only difficulty was on occasions it was difficult to get in touch with the team due to how busy that they were

  • 5 Ian Sharma 22nd Aug 2022

Good service as expected, the only issue was that the Caversham Road office was closed. We were pleased that Alistair was able to officiate. Thank you.

  • 5 Rosemary Rosser 5th May 2022

I would like to thank everyone at the Co-operative Funeral Care branch at Tilehurst Reading for being so kind and sensitive to me and my sons when we were so distressed at losing Viv. They were very helpful and friendly and there was no hard sell - I would recommend the service to anyone needing help at a difficult time.

  • 1 Paul Mann 21st Feb 2022

Terrible, we arranged a direct cremation, we still haven't had confirmation its actually taken place, despite being sent a request to give this feedback. Comms were poor, they still haven't issued an invoice although we paid the full amount in December. And if the cremation has taken place, we haven't received the ashes, which were supposed to be sent by express courier, and for which there was an additional charge

While the actual funeral service went well, there were too many other issues that arose along the way to leave a good review here. Issues included: several instances where Co-op staff indicated they would do something, but did not follow through without further reminders from us (e.g creating an invoice; setting up an online tribute page); a general lack of follow up checks and information during the funeral preparation period (e.g. no information provided about how to view the body in advance of the funeral, other than a single mention of the road name of the place where the body would be kept at our initial meeting - this lead to difficulties when we did want to view the body); advice from the celebrant and standard text provided by the Co-op in the order of service suggesting that there would be a donations box at the service, when this turned out not to be the case (we were informed by the funeral director after the service that they didn't do this any more). While I recognise that the Co-op may have been impacted by staff absences around the time of the funeral, many of the problems we experienced seemed to be the result of the unsystematic way in which we were guided through the whole funeral process from our initial meeting onwards, rather than because of any staffing issues.
