About Us
South Shields Crematorium in South Tyneside was opened in 1961 and caters to the local community in Tyne and Wear. The crematorium sits in beautiful grounds which is home to a variety of trees, shrubs and flowers.Open to members of any religion or faith, South Shields Crematorium is happy to accommodate a personalised funeral for your loved one. You may book an appointment to scatter ashes in the Garden of Remembrance, irrespective of the location of the cremation.
There are a number of memorial options available for those who would like a fitting tribute to their loved one. These include timber veneer plaques, wall plaques, boulder memorials, memorial garden seats, memorial rose plaques, memorial cards and books, vase block tablets, an entry into a Roll of Remembrance. There is also a sanctum for cremated remains and a baby and infant memorial featuring a statue of a baby in a hand.

Opening times at South Shield Crematorium are as follows:
Monday to Thursday - 8.30 am to 4 pm
Friday- 8.30 am to 3 pm
Saturday - 8.30 am to 4 pm
Sundays and public holidays - 11 am to 3 pm
Mother's Day and Father's Day - 9 am to 3 pm
