Penmount Crematorium is situated on a tranquil estate in a rural area near Truro.
The crematorium has two chapels: Trelawney and Kernow. The Trelawney chapel has seating for 112 mourners. The Kernow chapel is smaller and can seat 55 mourners. Both chapels have hearing loops and large print hymn books are available. Non-religious services are available in the Trelawney Chapel.
Music can be played live on an electronic organ or selected from a digital music system and photographs or video tributes can be displayed during the service.
The waiting rooms and toilets, including disabled toilets, are situated near the chapels.
Services can also be webcast to mourners who cannot attend the service in person and recorded on video or DVD.
The extensive grounds at Penmount Crematorium feature an 11 acre garden of remembrance, including formal gardens, an arboretum, large areas of natural woodland and a dedicated Baby Garden where young children can be commemorated.
A range of memorials can be installed in the gardens of remembrance, including individual memorial vaults, plaques, benches and copper vases for floral tributes. Urns can also be kept in niches of Penmount's columbarium.
There is also a book of remembrance where the name and epitaph of a loved one can be entered by an expert calligrapher. The book of remembrance can also be viewed online.
The office at Penmount Crematorium is open 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday, except bank holidays. The garden of remembrance is open every day, including Sundays and bank holidays. During the summer months the opening hours are 8:30am-6pm and during the winter months the opening hours are 8:30am until dusk.
