Co-op joins Funeral Guide, leading the way on price transparency

Co-op Funeralcare, the UK’s largest provider of funeral services, has officially joined leading price comparison site Funeral Guide.

By becoming the first national funeral director to list all of its homes on the independent platform, the Co-op is leading the way on price transparency within the funeral industry.

Ed Gallois, CEO of Funeral Guide, said: “After an extended trial due to the pandemic, I am delighted to welcome all 830 of Co-op’s funeral homes to Funeral Guide. More funeral directors on the site means more choice for the bereaved, which is a good thing. What I hope will happen next is that many more family-owned funeral directors will join Funeral Guide, in order to demonstrate that they too are transparent when it comes to pricing and service levels, thus increasing choice even further for the public.”

Samantha Tyrer, managing director of Co-op Funeralcare, said: “Ensuring families have simple and easy access to information on costs and services, in order to make informed decisions during difficult times, is an essential part of the planning process and we’re extremely proud to be leading the way on price transparency.

Funeral Guide provides an essential service to people right across the UK to ensure that they can arrange the right farewell for their loved one and we’re very pleased to be its first national provider.”
